The Infrequent Flyer's Pocket Companion

Hello Greeners!

Today we would like to suggest you to take a look at The Infrequent Flyer's Pocket Companion - it is a very short guide to get greener, created by the University of Edinburgh Transition group. You can download a free copy from the following link:

http://peopleandplanet.org/goinggreener/resources/your-resources

You will re-directed to People&Planet website - I strongly encourage you to have a look at the general website too! It's full of enthusiasm, good ideas and ways to get involved!

P&P is the biggest UK-wide student movement campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.

Definitely worth a few minutes of your time ;-)

Europe adventure

Lauren King has opted out of flying with her parents for their annual holiday this summer and therefore has the exciting task of getting to Croatia overland. If anyone has any tips, recommendations or advice, floors for her to sleep on or wants a travelling companion for some of the route please email lak33@st-andrews.ac.uk

PS for the ones of you who don't know  who Lauren King is - she's OneWorld coordinator!

Sustainability at University

Hello Greeners!
I realised I still haven't put on the links to the University resourceful website!

This is the link to the homepage of  all the sustainability facts and tips
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/environment/

From here you can access directly the resources about transportation
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/visiting/Travelplan/

And finally, from here you can dowload the pdf map with the suggested pathways and cycling routes - really useful if you need some fresh air and have a healthy break from study :-)

Stuck on Scotland

Good morning!

I hope you are having a relaxing weekend :-) Or, if you do not have time to relax, I hope you are having a very productive weekend :-)

With this post I want to suggest you a cool website:  http://www.stuckonscotland.co.uk/
It has travel tips (including links to several other website for booking coaches and trains) and turistic information. The highlighted link to "national express" is the one I posted before :-)
In addition, if you scroll down the hompage, there is a link Travel tips to and from Edinburgh  which will direct you to a very cool webpage with loads of links and miscellaneous info. Look at the right hand side: there is a menu where you can check out different transportation means :-)
Have fun!

!!!Fun Fares!!!

Hello beautiful people!

As I promised, here's the link to find incredibly cheap coaches that run all around UK:

http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/Offers/funfares.cfm

I'm personally going to get my edinburgh-london ticket for £12,50!!!

Be careful - when you select the date, you will be directed to another page when you should re-select the option "funfares" as it will show also the ordinary fare. Make sure you select your preferred option!!

NB Funfares are available online only - so don't waste your time going to offices :-/
NB2  Funfares are limited in quatity! So get your tickets as soon as you can!

NB3 Even if you end up unable to get your funfare ticket because you just didn't realise it's late, don't worry - even the ordinary fare is reasonable. And of course, keep checking this blog: I'll be posting some more ways to travel green and cheap!

Go Green!!

Welcome to our brand-new environmental blog!

Hello everyone!

I hope everything is going fine, everything falling into place and, obviously, I hope you are having fun :-)
I write here on behalf of OneWorld society, the University of St Andrews environmental society - we thought it would be good to have a reference point to discuss about sustainable travelling, so here we are! Feel free to email the society if you find a very good link or if you want to suggest a particularly nice pathway around St Andrews. In the next days we'll be posting some useful links/information, for example how to get to London for less than £15 and, at the same time, lower your carbon footprint!

Keep it in mind - we have only One World!
